Our pilgrimage took us to Syracuse for 2 days, then we drove to Wellsboro, PA (via Vestal, NY) where my grandparents had a farm when I was a kid, then to Cherry Hill, NJ (in the Philadelphia area) where I lived before Manlius, and then, finally, to see my Mom and sister, Janet, and extended family, in Fredericksburg, VA.
So, we
left Kat behind with her pal Rose and her family, and flew via
to Syracuse via Charlotte, where we met up with Mike Tucker for
a few hours between planes.
He's busy with his own business, twice divorced (sez "never again" but, I hear too much about Frances to believe that), and generally enjoying life. He still looks over his should for Mr. Allison from time to time. Heidi, he's taken.
We arrived in Syracuse at night. After finding a rental car big enough for me to fit in, we headed for Fayetteville. We weren't tired yet (jetlag) so I drove us around the F-M area a bit and dropped in on Rick Labs whom we surprised in his hot tub. Rick is still running his own business but it's no longer an ad agency. It's a leanly operated business that sets up e-commerce sites for businesses.
Finally, we headed to the Craftsman Inn in Fayetteville. If you haven't seen this place, across from the F'ville mall (what's LEFT of it), it's beautiful. It's mostly owned by folks involved with Stickley Furniture in F'ville and uses a lot of that in the Craftsman style rooms and common areas.

As we were getting out of the car, this
big guy comes over and scares the Bejeezus out of Carol; "Help
you with your bags, sir?" (or something close). It was James
Edward Aloysius M
ortimer
Snerd Cueball Hughes, Esq. This was a great surprise and someone
I'd hoped we'd see since Carol has become friends with the former
Ann Hughes (makes it sound like she's dead, doesn't it).
I'd like to say that's me, the handsome one on the left but, no, that's Jimmy. I'm the pretty one in the middle.
I wanted to show Carol around the City before it got dark. We visited Syracuse University and downtown (depressing) and WOLF. If you'd like to take the side trip to WOLF, click here.
I lived in Watson Dorm at SU for 4 years. It was built the same year I was: 1955. Freshman year I had Gregg Bockover as a roomate. To this day, Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital is trying to find Gerg Bocino, of 307 West Watson Street, to pay for stitches in the scalp. Don't ask.
I spent two semesters in Crouse College working on the room-sized Moog Synthesiser. I include the picure below because I like it.
