Phil's Christmas List 2002
It's said that if you don't ask you'll
never know. SO, for what it's worth, and for any rich relastives out there that
I've forgotten here's my 2002 Christmas list.
It's presented by category and, within
each, in some order of preference. YES, I KNOW some items are so expensive
that theyd take up 5 Christmases. We
can but ask..
- Computer Software & Hardware
- Quicken Mac. Personal
finance software to replace my spreadsheet of family finances.
- CDW 408837 $59
- MacWarehouse FIN1070 $59
- Ingram SKU 596953 $58
- Dantz Retrospect Express Mac, backup software:
- Frys $60
- MacZone $44
- BIS (via Ingram) SKU 326535 $44
- Genealogy software,
preferably for the Mac.
- Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred or Standard
Edition speech-to-text software, for PC (for work and laptop).
Ingram $88 SKU 998954
- Mac OS X 10.2.2 ("Jaguar"). The new
generation of Macintosh software.
- CDW $130
- Ingram $125 SKU 365821
- MacZone $117 p/n 00159201 or p/n 01008077
Family Pack for $189, so Kat & I can both have it.
- MacWarehouse p/n SYS1098 $129, but theres
a $50 rebate good thru 12/21, in a PDF on my Mac desktop. So net price
$80
- Suitcase v10 Not-for-Resale version. $31. Its
Ingram SKU 309981. Or get the full version for $87 (SKU 309982) and give
mine to Kat so were legal.
- A basic color web camera, USB or ethernet, Mac/PC.
For experimentation. Might give one to Janet too.
- Now Up-To-Date Mac, Address, Calendar &
Contact Mgr.
- Conflict Catcher v 8
- Just a lark: Wacom Digital Tablet USB 6x8 approx
$300. Probably Kat would use it more than I would.
Works on Mac or PC.
- Home Stuff
- Lighting for My Den. Something that will light
the den more evenly that just the torchier, but not generate a lot of
heat.
- New Desk. Preferably Oak or Maple. Current
desk is 5 wide by 28" deep and has a right return thats
42" long and 20" deep; new one needs to be deeper and wider.
Could dispense with the return and use a separate table for the printer
and adding machine. Shores/A-1 on Dowdy Dr. sells quasi-custom made
furniture which can be made high enough for me. Should be at least 33"
high. My lap is about 28" off the ground
- New, higher, bathroom vanity. This is just
a dream, of course, and involves Carol. Maybe we can make our own?
- Health/Excercise Items:
- Custom Bike My present 26" mountain bike
makes my neck hurt after awhile. I think well be in the high teens
for even a not-heavy-duty bike. I dont think Mountain Bike Warehouse
makes customer bikes, but they might be helpful 619-273-7300. Heres
a link http://www.wittbicycles.com/buyers_guide.htm.
- Home Gym: needs to let me work on arms, chest,
legs and low back.
- Treadmill or Stepper cardio machine
- Entertainment/Music/Gagdets
- Cordless Headphone system for family room.
Just the receiver/transmitter; works with your own headsets. Saw one at
Best Buy. If you see a wireless headset (that includes the headsets) that
you REALLY like, thats OK, too.
- Surround Sound Speakers for family room. I
have amplifiers for front-center and for rear speakers, just need the
speakers. Subwoofer an option (ask Kat her opinion). We can trade Moms
Radio Shack speakers to Kat for her metal speakers, but then Id
need something for the music room.
- A Ghanaan drum like the one I got in 01,
but a higher or lower pitch, so the 2 can be used as a set.
- A good quality scrapbook (or 3) for my family
pix and clippings
- Car stereo system. To get what I want were
talking probably $600. I already have speakers but wed need a CD/Radio
with built-in graphic EQ (at least 7 bands), plus an amp (internal preferred,
probably 75w/ch RMS), plus installation. Wants to be installed so
that I can put the original radio & speakers back in when we sell
the vehicle. Integrated cassette player is a plus but not a big deal
Mac Software Sources (some
will involve shipping charges)
